The Importance of Competence Over Competition

The pursuit of success should focus on personal growth and competence rather than competition. The satisfaction derived from being better than others can lead to an unhealthy mindset. Instead, individuals should strive to reach their full potential, which requires a nurturing environment rather than a competitive one. By fostering a positive atmosphere, we can replace competition with competence and truly thrive.

In our quest for success, we often overlook the importance of personal growth and competence, mistakenly replacing these values with a competitive spirit. This leads to a scenario where our sole source of satisfaction is being one step ahead of those around us. However, deriving pleasure from other people's failures or being better than others is not a sign of personal growth, but rather an unhealthy mindset.

Each of us, as individuals, should strive to be the best version of ourselves. After all, every life in creation, from the smallest worm and insect to the largest tree, is constantly striving to reach its full potential. Why then, should we be any different? Why should we concern ourselves with who is trailing behind us? Why do we find it gratifying when others are lesser than us?

Unfortunately, this competitive mindset is ingrained in us right from our early years, from kindergarten onward. It's a mentality that has caused significant unpleasantness in our world, leading to unhealthy situations and attitudes. We refer to this as education, as competition, as societal norms. However, this approach is flawed and an ineffective way of handling things.

The real question we should be asking ourselves is this: are we blossoming to our fullest potential as human beings? Achieving this doesn't require us to constantly outdo others. Instead, what it needs is a nurturing environment that allows us to grow and develop.

Just like a plant, we don't grow by focusing on the plant itself, but by taking care of the soil, the atmosphere, the surrounding environment. Similarly, for humans to grow and find the fullest expression for their lives, we need to foster a positive and nurturing atmosphere. Only then will we be able to replace competition with competence and truly thrive.
